PSP-INDIANA
A man from Latrobe is charged with strangling a Blairsville woman in an incident on Airport Road. Police did not release the name of the suspect or victim. They say that the two were involved in an argument at 10:01 PM on August 10th when the man started to strangle the woman. A third person was able to step in to break up the fight. The man was taken to Indiana County Jail to await an arraignment hearing.
Another shoplifting incident was reported at the White Township Walmart on August 11th. State police say that an unnamed 20-year-old woman from Avonmore tried to take various clothing and grocery items valued at $119.88 without paying for them. She was taken to the State Police barracks where she was processed and released. Police issued a non-traffic citation.
A trooper who stopped to help a disabled motorist discovered a man who was driving while intoxicated. State police say that on August 13th, the responding trooper tried to make contact with the driver and found the 35-year-old Blairsville man was in an intoxicated state at the intersection of Route 22 and Club Lane in Burrell Township. The driver was found to be in possession of an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin. Charges are pending the results of a blood test.
