27-year-old Matraca Vrana is scheduled for sentencing today in Indiana County Court, in connection with the Justin Libengood/David McGinnis case from July 1st of last year.
Vrana, who is from Northern Cambria, was present in a room at the Days Inn in Burrell Township when Libengood allegedly tried to rob McGinnis during a drug deal. The two men scuffled and a shot was fired, grazing McGinnis in the neck.
Vrana pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia last December and will finally be sentenced for that misdemeanor offense, but she faces more serious charges in Westmoreland County, where she is accused of helping McGinnis smuggle contraband drugs into the prison there and of taking part in a witness intimidation plot on behalf of McGinnis’ cellmate. She’s scheduled for trial on those charges in November.
McGinnis, who is from Bolivar, had his drug charges dropped here in Indiana County, but faces four trials in Westmoreland County. He is scheduled for trial on the witness intimidation and contraband charges on September 21st and for dealing drugs on October 5th.
Libengood, meanwhile, is scheduled for trial in the robbery and shooting starting next Monday in Indiana County Court.
