State Representative Jim Struzzi announced on Friday that the Pennsylvania Housing Fiannce Agency has approved a $150,000 grant to help those 55 and over or who are disabled with roof and heating system replacement projects.
The money will be used to assist income-qualified Indiana County homeowners with the replacement of deteriorated or leaking roofs and inoperable, inefficient or unsafe heating systems. The roof replacement could consist of replacing rafters, sheathing, shingles, metal, flashing, insulation, soffits, fascia, gutters and downspouts. Furnace replacements could include furnace, thermostats, hot water tanks, fuel lines, fuel tanks and duct work.
Struzzi called the money important, especially in these financially turbulent times. The money comes through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement funds, which is funded through Marcellus Shale impact fees, realty transfer taxes and the Naitonal Housing Trust Fund.
