IUP has announced that even though it will be done virtually, they will continue with tradition with an opening event for the 2020-2021 school year.
The ceremonies will be held on Friday, August 21st from 9-10 AM and instead of an in-person ceremony at Fisher Auditorium as in previous years, the ceremony for this year will be held in a virtual format. This is due to social distancing guidelines in place that prohibit large group events from taking place in person. The ceremony will be live-streamed from Fisher, and it will be available to stream on IUP’s website, and a recording of the event will also be made available.
The fall semester will begin on Monday, August 24th, but this year, the on-campus student population will be reduced as the University will limit those attending classes on campus to freshmen or students with 30 credits or less, including transfer students, students in clock-hour programs like the culinary academy and the criminal justice training center, international students already in the U.S., students in classes that require face-to-face instruction, and students with special circumstances that require face-to-face instruction. Upper class students can attend an in-person class if it is a hybrid or face-to-face class, if there is room for them in the classroom after social distancing guidelines and if they registered for the class.
The majority of classes at IUP will be offered online.
