The topic of Governor Wolf’s recommendations and how the district should reopen came up for discussion at last night’s Homer-Center School Board Meeting.
Like many of the other Indiana County school districts, Homer-Center is going to take time to look at all the information, and are likely to make a decision on if the district will open with face-to-face instruction, all online instruction or a blended model during their regular meeting set for next Thursday night. Superintendent Curtis Whitesel said that he is following a pattern set by other districts in Indiana County.
Another concern that was brought up for discussion was if the district would have enough computers for students. As of right now, the answer is no, but Whitesel said the district is anticipating a shipment of computers.
One other concern was legal ramifications if the district decided to not follow the Wolf Administration’s recommendations. District solicitor Dan Cooper said that the district would be on firm legal ground if a lawsuit were to come up.
In other business, the board approved hiring Autumn Vay as the new district food service director, and approved a five-year agreement with Play On! Sports at a cost of $2,500 for the equipment and cameras to stream sporting events online.
