A man who initially pleaded guilty in a case where he faced multiple counts related thefts returns to court today to rescind that plea.
55-year-old Gary Eugene Berkheimer of Gypsy was charged with felony burglary and criminal trespass, along with five misdemeanor counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. The charges stemmed from an incident on November 10th of 2018. On March 6th, Berkheimer pleaded guilty to a single charge of criminal trespass, and was set for a sentencing hearing in May that was eventually delayed to August 21st. But today, Berkheimer will be in court to rescind his guilty plea and head to trial. That hearing will be before Judge Michael Clark.
Jury trials are also set to get underway today for a few individuals today as well. They include 30-year-old Fodie Camera of Philadelphia, who faces felony charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police and aggravated assault, two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, a single misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and six summary traffic-related charges. The charges stem from an incident on January 10th of this year.
A non-jury trial is set for 22-year-old Jared Adam Schafkopf, who is charged with disorderly conduct and intercepting communications for an incident on February 27th of last year.
Also on the schedule today is the sentencing of Tammy Marie Powell, who pleaded guilty to a charge of accessing a device that is counterfeit. Charges of forgery, theft and identity theft were not prosecuted.
