A Commodore man died due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash Friday night in Green Township.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. identified the victim as 71-year-old John D. Hoover of Route 240 in Commodore. According to the coroner’s report, Hoover’s motorcycle hit a deer as Hoover was riding on Route 240 around 8:15 PM. Hoover was treated on-scene and transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center’s Emergency department, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 9:47 PM.
Hoover’s death was ruled accidental due to blunt force trauma to the head, chest and abdomen. The Barrett Funeral Home in Northern Cambria is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
State Police, Citizens’ Ambulance and the Commodore Fire Department assisted at the scene.
