Carol Kercel, 68, of Homer City, PA passed away unexpectedly at her home. She was born in Fratrovac, Croatia in 1951 as Dragica Mrljak, daughter Ivan and Kata Mrljak.
After the untimely death of her mother, she came to the USA to be raised by her mother’s sister, Mary Kercel and her husband Pete. Shortly afterward her brother Janko (John) joined her and both were lovingly raised by their aunt and uncle. Both of them were adopted and took the Kercel name. Carol is a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish.
She is survived by her sister Slava Luksic, brother John (Carrie) and nieces Dana and Draga Luksic, Mirjana Mrljak, Dragica Mravunac of Croatia, and nephew Ivan Mrljak of Serbia.
Carol is preceded in death by her biological parents, Ivan and Kata Mrljak, Mary and Pete Kercel, brothers Nikola and Rudolf.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 PM at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Homer City. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana
