The Blairsville-Saltsburg school board is set to meet tonight and the district’s phased school reopening health and safety plan for the next school year will be on the agenda.
The reopening plan will address the health and safety of students and staffers at the campus for the next school year in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. The plan includes how classes may look in both the green and yellow phases of the state’s reopening plan, and if students and staffers would have their temperatures taken when they go in, and the use of face masks by students and staffers.
Also on the agenda is a memorandum of understanding concerning educational time. The district said that the superintendent would have the duty and authority to develop a health and safety plan to ensure a minimum of 180 days of education.
The school board will also have a presentation that would include a timeline concerning meetings on district reconfiguration. Tonight, the board will talk about transportation and facilities, with other topics covered in subsequent meetings. The board wants to have a hearing on the reconfiguration issue on October 15th but it’s not known at which campus that meeting would be held. There would then be a cooling off period of 90 days that would run through February of next year. Authorization could come at their February meeting and implementation of the plan would go into effect in March through August of next year if the plan is approved.
