A third State System school has announced plans to curtail in-person classes this fall. Edinboro University yesterday announced that its students will, for the most part, be offered only online education. That reverses a previous decision to open for face-to-face instruction.
Edinboro’s president, Guiyou Huang, wrote in an e-mail that the school believes it’s “the best way to minimize the health risks to (its) students, faculty, and staff.” In-person offerings will include courses which require labs, such as clinical nursing, as well as art studios and similar classes.
West Chester and East Stroudsburg have also said they will be online only this fall, with very limited exceptions such as those involved in student teaching and internships, which will be subject to the organization at which those experiences will occur.
Slippery Rock has scaled back its ration of in-person to online classes from fifty-fifty to eighty percent online and only twenty percent in person.
As of now, IUP plans a mix of online and in-person classes. Classes are scheduled to begin on August 24th.
