The deadline for applications for grants to help businesses affected by the Coronavirus shutdown is next week.
The $225 million in grant money through the Department of Community and Economic Development is being funded by CARES act funds, and the deadline to apply is 11:59 PM on July 14th. The money can be used to cover operating expenses for the duration of the shutdown and the transition period to re-opening; grants to cover technical assistance, including training and guidance, for business owners as they stabilize and relaunch their business; debt payment relief for Community Development Financial Institiution borrowers and loan loss reserves for CDFI’s.
$100 million will be distributed through through the Main Street Business Revitalization Program, another $100 million through the Historically Disadvantaged Business Revitalization Program, and the remaining $25 million will go through the loan deferment and loss reserve.
