Yesterday, State Fire Commissioner Bruce Trego announced that the Office of State Fire Commissioner opened registration for state grants adding financial relief for local emergency services negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release, Trego addressed that many fire, rescue and EMS companies have taken hits since the state began taking actions during the pandemic – due to lack of local fundraising efforts and community events – and that these grants are aimed to help them regain financial stability.
Of the $50 million set aside for these grants, $44 million will be given to local fire and rescue companies and $6 million to EMS companies. Any money given to these companies must be used for equipment and operational purposes.
