The Fourth of July weekend has included the sad news of three fatal accidents.
One of them happened yesterday morning in Derry Township, Westmoreland County. A 23-year-old Blairsville woman whose name has still not been released lost her life when she failed to stop at a stop sign on Pizza Barn Road and was struck broadside by the vehicle of a Latrobe man on Route 217. The woman was ejected from her vehicle. The 33-year-old man reportedly suffered minor injuries. Neither of them was wearing a seatbelt.
The other fatalities are the death of a Clymer man, who passed away Friday at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown as the result of injuries suffered in a crash on June 17th on Tanoma Road near Barr Slope Road in Rayne Township. 58-year-old Jerry Tanner’s vehicle left the roadway and ran into a ditch. He was found unresponsive inside his vehicle.
Finally, a 38-year-old man from Phillipsburg in Centre County was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Route 22 at Indiana Avenue in Burrell Township. A vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Blairsville man was crossing 22 when it was struck by the victim’s vehicle.
