State police now say that one person has died in a motor vehicle crash that happened at the intersection of Route 22 and Indiana Avenue in Burrell Township on Thursday.
Police say that the crash happened at 6:34 PM on July 2nd. A vehicle driven by an un-named 69-year-old man from Blairsville was going north on Indiana Avenue when they tried to cross Route 22, but they failed to yield to a car driven by a 38-year-old Phillipsburg man that was going East on Route 22. The vehicles collided in a T-bone style crash with the Blairsville man’s vehicle coming to rest on 22 facing east and the Phillipsburg man’s vehicle on the north berm facing west. Both vehicles were disabled.
The Phillipsburg man died in the crash. His identity has not been released as the investigation is continuing. The Blairsville man was taken to IRMC for treatment of unknown injuries. State police were assisted on scene by Blairsville, Black Lick and Coral-Graceton fire departments, Stat Med-Evac, Citizen’s Ambulance and Sabo’s towing.
