Indiana County will have some fireworks set off for the Fourth of July holiday, but organizers are encouraging people keep safe during the celebration.
This year would have been the fifth consecutive year for the annual “Star Spangled Celebration” at Mack Park put on by the YMCA, but concerns over Covid-19 have caused the activities in the park to be cancelled. The park will be open tomorrow from noon to 6, but the grounds will be cleared and closed at 7:00. Fireworks will still be shot off from Mack Park starting at 9:45 PM, but people will not be allowed inside the park. YMCA CEO Eric Neal says that people should keep in mind social distancing and mask guidelines.
Neal did address what for some may be a long-standing tradition: watching the fireworks from some of the surrounding parking lots.
One area that is off limits is IRMC’s grounds. Representatives from IRMC say the grounds will be closed off for safety reasons.
