David McGinnis yesterday waived his formal arraignment on new charges forwarded to Westmoreland County Court earlier this month. The 27-year-old Bolivar man will stand trial for eighteen charges in two cases.
Fourteen of the alleged offenses are felonies, including five charges of intimidation of witnesses, a single charge of retaliation against a witness or victim, conspiracy to all of those offenses, and conspiracy to both contraband of a controlled substance and attempted contraband.
He’s accused of having his mother pretend to be a court official and call his cellmate’s accuser to threaten criminal action against her if she testified in a stalking case. He is also accused of conspiring with his girlfriend, Matraca Vrana of Northern Cambria, with arranging to smuggle suboxone into the Westmoreland County Prison. Vrana is also charged in both of the cases.
McGinnis is already awaiting drug trials scheduled for August in both Indiana and Westmoreland counties.
