The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is encouraging people who are applying for permits to use their new OnBase-DEP Upload form.
The new tool for the DEP will allow for faster processing and an increased focus on parts of the permit application dealing with the environment and with public health. The tool is also seen as a way to help DEP employees who are currently teleworking during the covid-19 crisis. It will also help cut down on the back-and-forth letters between the DEP and the applicant over missing information or an incorrectly submitted application.
DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell said paper applications will still be accepted, but using the online tool is being encouraged among new applicants. Payment for application fees is not part of the tool and applicants will need to submit payment under a “separate cover.”
