IUP HAS RECORD NUMBER OF PSAC SCHOLAR-ATHLETES

For the fourth straight year, the IUP Athletic Department posted a new school record as 208 student-athletes earned PSAC scholar-athlete distinction for the 2019-20 academic year.

Student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 are eligible for selection.

The 208 recipients represent nearly 54 percent of IUP’s 386 total student-athletes which is well above the PSAC-wide average of 45 percent. More than 70 percent of women’s student-athletes at IUP earned scholar-athlete distinction while nearly 40 percent of men qualified for the list.

This year’s total just edged the then-record 205 honorees from last year, and included 25 baseball players, 21 football players, 20 women’s lacrosse players, 19 women swimmers, 17 women’s volleyball players, and 10 women’s basketball players.
