24-year-old Dylan Blair of Saltsburg was sentenced yesterday to six to twelve years in prison for selling a batch of heroin mixed with fentanyl that killed a Derry woman on December 26th of 2016.
38-year-old Michelle Spillar’s body was found in her bedroom next to three stamp bags labeled “Head Games”, one of them empty. A Westmoreland County jury found Blair guilty of drug delivery resulting in death and two counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was ordered to serve a concurrent sentence of one to two years for the other two offenses.
Blair was tracked down and arrested by Westmoreland County detectives at the Days Inn in Burrell Township in May of 2017. When they entered his room, they found another man, Edward Russian of Saltsburg, in the process of overdosing. He revived and eventually pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia. Blair pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Both were sentenced to a year of probation.
Blair apologized to the Spillar family during yesterday’s sentencing before Judge Christopher Feliciani. His attorney asked for eligibility for parole after just four years because he had no prior criminal history.
