The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce recently announced the first group of students who graduated from the Indiana County Ready program.
More than 250 students graduated from the program this school year from seven local school districts, including Blairsville-Saltsburg, Homer-Center, Indiana, Marion Center, Purchase Line, Penns Manor and United. It is a voluntary program that allowed students who were juniors or seniors in any Indiana County school district to join and and they were assessed over the course of the school year on the categories of reliability, work ethic, communication, respect, professionalism and attendance. The program did face a lot of challenges as the Covid-19 pandemic hit near the end of the school year, but it still offered students to learn about alternative communication in the workplace, along with responsibility and respect.
The students who completed the program will be certified “Indiana County Ready” and can add the honor to their resumes. Students will also receive a certificate and a pin for their graduation gown.
