Two area amusement parks will open for the season next month with some new policies in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
According to announcements on their respective websites, Kennywood in Pittsburgh and Idlewild and Soakzone in Ligonier will open on July 6th for friends and family previews, and the 7th and 10th for season pass holder previews before opening to the general public on July 11th. Both parks are going to use a scheduling system so they can limit how many people can go to the parks. Starting June 17th, the parks will release the first wave of dates on their website that guests can reserve. Not all the dates will be listed at once, so someone who wants to go later in the summer are encouraged to check back later if the date is not available.
Everyone will be asked to keep six feet between parties, and everyone will wear masks in the park unless they are less than three years old or have a medical condition that wearing a mask would harm them. Everyone entering the park will also have a temperature scan and if their temperature is over 100.4 degrees, they will not be admitted. They will also not be admitted if they show symptoms of Covid-19.
The parks will also set up hand sanitizing stations throughout the park, sanitizing teams will be out throughout the day cleaning high-touch areas and rides.
No word yet on when their affiliate water park, Sandcastle, will reopen.
