At a special voting session of the Homer-Center School Board Thursday night, the board voted to accept the resignation of Elementary Principal Michael Stofa due to retirement.
Stofa is the district’s longest tenured administrator, serving as Homer-Center’s elementary principal over the last 14 years. While he did not get to work with him long, Superintendent Curtis Whitesel said Stofa was great to work with.
Only one other item was on the agenda, and that was approval of a memorandum of understanding with the Homer-Center Education Association to add an extra Act 80 day to the start of the school year, taking it from the end of this school year. The reason behind it is to give teachers an extra day of preparation if the district does have to resume online learning.
