This year was the first year that mail-in ballots were accepted for elections, and in Indiana County, the tabulation of those ballots is not complete as of this morning.
Indiana County Chief Clerk Robin Marayi said that they started their pre-canvas for mail-in ballots at 9:00 AM yesterday. They had received 8,275 requests and 7,314 mail-in ballots were returned. Marayi said that the process in counting those mail in ballots takes longer than counting the regular ballots.
Maryai added that the count of the mail-in ballots should wrap up later today. Those mail-in ballots have not been added to the totals from yesterday’s election, but that will happen when the mail-in ballot count is complete.
