On Monday night, Indiana Borough Council viewed a presentation from the Planning Department concerning some of the projects the borough would be looking at over the summer months.
One part focused on economic recovery projects as the borough looks to bounce back from the Covid-19 crisis, and the planning office is looking at creating a post-disaster economic recovery plan. They have sent surveys out to 144 businesses and received 39 surveys back. Workers are right now trying to compile those survey results to figure out some of the needs for the borough. In addition, there will be two public hearings for CDBG-CV funding. They will host a public hearing on June 18th for residents and on June 23rd for the business community. Both of those hearings will be held on Zoom video chat, and details on how to join will be posted on their website, www.indianaboro.com.
Some of the other projects that will happen this summer includes paving of several streets. The projects include:
- Church Street from 9th to 10th and 11th to 13th Streets
- School Street from 10th to 13th Streets
- Washington Street from Railroad to Wine Avenue
- Papermill Avenue from School to Washington Street
Borough manager C. Michael Foote said that he expects no problems with the paving schedule from Covid-19. Paving will take place in the summer months, but the exact start date has not been determined.
