The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports that, as of noon today, 5,265 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19, 113 more than yesterday’s total. The number is in contrast to a trend of fewer deaths in recent days. On Tuesday, on 13 deaths were reported in the previous 24 hours.
The number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Indiana County went up by one to 90 in the last 24 hours. Indiana – the 15701 zip code – has the most confirmed cases with 28. The county has 22 ventilators and none are in use.
The percentage of recovered cases in the state improved to 62 percent of all positive tested Covid-19 cases from 61 percent on Tuesday. The state offers this definition of recovered: “Individuals who have recovered is determined using a calculation, similar to what is being done by several other states. If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered.”
Among neighboring counties, Westmoreland reports that the number of recorded positive cases remained at 442. Armstrong County’s total of positive cases increased by two to 61. Jefferson County stayed at seven positive cases, and Cambria County remained at 57.
The number of positive cases in Pennsylvania reached 69,417, an increase of 780 from Tuesday. The 26 to 49 year old age group has the most positive cases with 37 percent of the 69,417 cases.
These positive tested totals reflect how many people have tested positive since the Department of Health started recording and not how many people are currently ill.
While 69,417 have tested positive in the state, 349,990 have tested negative. In Indiana County 1,304 have tested negative.
