The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports that, as of noon today, 5,139 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19, only 15 more than yesterday’s total. On Sunday, the state reported 28. The numbers reported in the last week are the lowest since the state began posting death figures in late March.
The number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Indiana County did not change from 89 in the last 24 hours. Indiana – the 15701 zip code – has the most confirmed cases with 28. The county has 22 ventilators and none are in use.
For a fourth straight day, the percentage of recovered cases in the state has climbed. As for noon today, 61 percent of all positive tested Covid-19 cases in the state have recovered, an increase of one percent from Sunday. The state offers this definition of recovered: “Individuals who have recovered is determined using a calculation, similar to what is being done by several other states. If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered.”
Among neighboring counties, Westmoreland reports that the number of recorded positive cases increased by one to 441. Armstrong County’s total of positive cases remained at 58. Jefferson County stayed at seven positive cases, and Cambria County remained at 57.
The number of positive cases in Pennsylvania reached 68,186, an increase of 473 from Sunday. The 26 to 49 year old age group has the most positive cases with 37 percent of the 68,186 cases.
These positive tested totals reflect how many people have tested positive since the Department of Health started recording and not how many people are currently ill.
While 68,186 have tested positive in the state, 334,928 have tested negative. In Indiana County 1,175 have tested negative.
