As part of his news conference yesterday, Governor Tom Wolf announced that seventeen counties currently in the yellow phase of his reopening plan will move to the green phase next Friday.
The counties are mainly in the north-western and north-central regions of the state, including nearby Jefferson and Clearfield Counties. Eight other counties will move to the yellow status next Friday, with the remaining counties moving to yellow on June 5th.
Wolf said that over the last two weeks, the state has seen sustained reductions in the number of hospitalizations, a shrinking number of Covid-19 patients on ventilators, a decline in the number of new cases, and an incident rate of 83.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Under green phase, businesses that were operating under 50 percent capacity would be allowed to move to 75 percent capacity, and businesses not allowed to open in the yellow phase, like barber shops and salons, would be allowed to reopen under 50 percent capacity. Barber shops and salons must work by appointment only, while indoor recreation, health and wellness facilities and personal care services, like gyms and spas, would have appointments recommended. Telework must continue where feasible. Visits to hospitals and prisons would be allowed to resume, but nursing home restrictions would remain in place for now.
Wolf said that the Green Phase is not a return to what we once had, but changing behaviors for a new normal.
