The Pennsylvania Department of Health today added a “recovered” category to its daily table of Covid-19 reporting in the form of a percentage.
According to the state, 57 percent of positive tested Covid-19 cases have recovered, which the state defines by the following: “Individuals who have recovered is determined using a calculation, similar to what is being done by several other states. If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered.”
The state reports that that the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Indiana County increased by one to 89 in the last 24 hours. As of midnight last night, the deaths of four Indiana County residents have been attributed to Covid-19.
Indiana – the 15701 zip code – has the most positive cases with 28. The county has 22 ventilators and none are in use.
Among neighboring counties, Westmoreland reports that the number of recorded positive cases increased to 436, two more than yesterday. Armstrong County’s total of positive cases remained at 58. Jefferson County stayed at seven positive cases. Cambria County remained to 55.
The number of positive cases in Pennsylvania reached 66,258, an increase of 866 from Thursday. The 26 to 49 year old age group has the most positive cases with 37 percent of the 66,258 cases. Reported deaths in Pennsylvania attributed to confirmed cases stand at 4,984, an increase of 115 in the last 24 hours.
These positive tested totals reflect how many people have tested positive since the Department of Health started recording and not how many people are currently ill.
While 66,258 have tested positive in the state, 312,743 have tested negative. In Indiana County 1,130 tested negative.
