At Thursday Night’s Penns Manor School Board meeting, the board approved the tentative budget for the next school year by a 6-3 vote.
The budget tops out at $17,147,059 for revenues and $18,138,395 for expenses. The budget calls for an increase in property taxes by 0.5528 mils to a new total of 14.7288 mils. For someone who has a $75,000 assessed property, the taxpayer will see a $41 increase in their taxes. The budget also entails not replacing two teachers, who are retiring at the end of the year.
Board members Ron Larch, Richard Polenik and Debora Tate voted against the proposed budget. It will be up for final approval on June 25th at the next regular business meeting.
In other business, graduation ceremonies were discussed for the 2020 Penns Manor Seniors. Derren Johnston said the drive through ceremony is set for 6:00 PM on June 4th at the district complex. Each senior will be permitted to bring two vehicles, and diplomas will be presented at the district’s marquee.
