Penguins forward Brandon Tanev sat down for a video chat yesterday on the Pens’ website, and said he’s been rollerblading to keep in shape. Tanev is spending the hockey hiatus in Pittsburgh, and he says he’s also gotten into cooking and jigsaw puzzles to pass the time.
In his first year with the Pens, Tanev says he and his teammates are ready to get back to action, and it shouldn’t take long to get up to speed.
Tanev signed a six-year, $21 million contract to joining the Penguins last offseason, and says it was a great choice.
Tanev is known for his speed, with center Evgeni Malkin calling him the fastest player in the NHL, and he says it’s an important part of his game.
Tanev does not believe it will take an extended period of time back on the ice to get back to the level of play they were at when the season was halted.
Tanev has scored 11 goals with 14 assists this season, playing mostly on the fourth line with Teddy Blueger and Zach Aston-Reese.
