Preliminary hearings are scheduled today for two of the four suspects in a February shooting and two robberies at rental homes along Wayne Avenue in Indiana. A third suspect has already waived his charges to Common Pleas Court without a hearing, and the fourth suspect’s hearing is scheduled for next month.
19-year-old Daron Reel Jr. and 20-year-old Samuel Wilson are scheduled today before District Judge Guy Haberl. 20-year-old Mahmadi Saccoh has waived his hearing. 23-year-old Nafis Harper has had his preliminary hearing rescheduled from May 27th to June 25th.
All of the suspects are from Philadelphia and all but Reel face the same charges…four counts of robbery, four counts of conspiracy to robbery, three counts of conspiracy to aggravated assault, and single counts of theft and receiving stolen property, along with conspiracy to those same two offenses. Reel faces the same charges, but also a single charge of attempted homicide.
The four men are accused of robbing the residents at two homes, at 835 and 841 Wayne Avenue on February 14th. They reportedly went to the first home by mistake, but still robbed the residents there. At 835 Wayne Avenue, they are accused of beating three residents with the handles of guns and Reel is charged with shooting one of them, with the slug entering the man’s chin, going through his neck, and lodging in his shoulder. The victim survived the shooting.
Investigators have said that Wilson and Saccoh confessed and identified Reel and Harper as the other suspects.
Today’s hearings are scheduled for 8:30 AM.
