Robert D. McCoy Sr., 76, of Hillsdale, PA died Friday, May 8, 2020 at the VA Hospital Aspinwall in Pittsburgh, PA.
The son of Dennis D. and Grace (Baker) McCoy, he was born on September 1, 1943 in Cookport, PA.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, he served overseas during the Vietnam War earning the rank of AN (E-3).
He married Pamela D. (Ferrier) McCoy on January 13, 1967 and they shared over 53 years of marriage together.
Bob’s work career included employment as a heavy equipment operator for PennDot and as a dragline operator for Benjamin Coal.
He was very devoted to his family. Two of his favorite past times were hunting and walking.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pamela McCoy of Hillsdale, PA and his two children: Robert McCoy, Jr. and wife, Virginia of Hillsdale, PA and Heather Griffiths and husband, David of Hartland, Maine; his ten grandchildren: Robert C. McCoy and wife Bethany; Cody D. McCoy and wife Laurel; Aleshia C. McCoy; Nicholas A. McCoy; Kaelyn L. McCoy; Christopher T. McCoy; Patrick L. Runyon; Lexus A. McCoy; Mercedes P. McCoy; Shelby D. McCoy; his two great grandchildren: Wesley Dean McCoy and Amayla Grace McCoy; his siblings: Arveta “Tiny” Bathurst of Lynchburg, VA; Wanda Querry and husband Ned of Commodore, PA and Bonnie Anderson and husband Ken of Newville, PA.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard “Rick” McCoy.
In accordance with the coronavirus guidelines, private services officiated by Pastor Ken Brown will be held for Bob’s immediate family at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Private interment will be held at the East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line, PA.
