PA Governor Tom Wolf confirmed an announcement made yesterday by State Senator Joe Pittman that the Western Pennsylvania region, including Indiana and Westmoreland Counties, would transition to Yellow status on May 15th under the governor’s reopening plan.
At a virtual news conference yesterday, Wolf talked about moving to Yellow status will mean for the 13-county area.
The news was first reported by State Senator Joe Pittman several hours before Wolf’s news conference. Pittman said he made the announcement because the governor had called him Thursday evening to give him a heads-up on the announcement, but two hours later, an announcement was made that all the counties in red status, which Indiana was in at the time, would have their stay at home order extended until early June.
State representative Jim Struzzi said after the announcement was made yesterday that he had mixed emotions, but was not happy with the length of the shutdown that Indiana County went through.
