The average cost of a gallon of gas continues to fall as the Coronavirus outbreak negatively affects the demand for gasoline.
As of today, the average cost of a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline in Pennsylvania is $2.07, which is three cents cheaper than a week ago, 29 cents cheaper than last month, and 91 cents lower than last year at this time. This is following a national trend where people are not travelling as much due to concerns over the Covid-19 outbreak. Triple A reports that for the first time in a few weeks, the demand for gas held steady from its free fall at 5.1 million barrels a day, and refinery rates have dropped to 69 percent.
Indiana’s average gas price is $2.11 a gallon, with many stations in Indiana Borough and White Township recording a price of $2.09 a gallon. The Homer City and Blairsville gas stations are offering gas at $2.19 a gallon. In Clymer, the Kwik-Fill gas station reports gas barely below the $2.00 per gallon mark, selling it at $1.99 a gallon.
The lowest gas price average in Pennsylvania is in Wyoming County, with an average of $1.73 a gallon. The highest average is in Philadelphia, which is $2.25 a gallon
