The Blairsville-Saltsburg School District has announced that some of the district’s teachers are making face shields to be donated to local first responders.
Blairsville Elementary teacher Linzie Strong reached out to the chiefs of the Blairsville, Black Lick, Iselin and Saltsburg fire departments to find out what they needed and the chiefs requested face shields for their fire departments. That was when she joined up with Homer-Center’s COVID Avengers on Facebook and their efforts to make face shields for IRMC and other organizations using 3D printers to make the head brackets. She also coordinated with Lori Baker, the Middle-School Guidance Counselor at the Saltsburg end of the district.
The district is reporting that 18 face shields will go to Black Lick, 24 to Blairsville, 24 to Iselin and 12 to Saltsburg.
