At Wednesday Night’s Homer-Center School Board Meeting, the board decided on a plan for grades for the 4th quarter of the year and a possible after-action review once the Covid-19 pandemic is over.
During the meeting, the board approved an action to allow a “not graded” or “NG” status on the report cards for the 4th Quarter and Final Exams. High School Principal Jody Rainey said that this would not have a negative impact on the student’s grades.
In other business, board member Mike Schmidt made a motion to have an after action review over the Covid-19 situation to develop an improvement plan by June 15th, with the aim of having a new continuity of education plan by August 26th. Schmidt talked about what it would cover.
The board voted 8-1 to table it and send the idea to the proper committees. Board member Vicki Smith said she was ok with the idea but not what she felt was a quickly approaching deadline.
Finally, the board honored five students nicknamed the Covid Avengers, who started using their 3D printers to help make face shields for those battling the Covid-19 Pandemic. Logan Williams, Brennan Mogle, Ryan Sardone, Tyler Blystone and Shyenne Debar were collectively named Wildcat recognition award winners for their work in making the face shields and donating them to IRMC.
