In advance of Wednesday’s Homer-Center School Board meeting, the academic committee discussed continuing education during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Board president Michael Bertig said the committee’s consensus is that students would not be held responsible for work in the 4th grading quarter of the school year, because they don’t know what all the students can do as far as technology concerns. The idea of internet hot spots was brought up, but Bertig said that it would not work for two reasons, according to reports from their technology department.
Discussion last night focused on how the grades would be weighted. Traditionally, each quarter of the school year makes up 20% of the grade, with the mid-term and finals each worth 10% each. The big question was how to grade the year without the fourth quarter and final exam in play.
The board meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 PM and will once again be a virtual format online. The information on how to attend can be found at www.homercenter.org
