SALEM TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY
State police have issued a report on a three-vehicle pileup which left all three drivers injured last Thursday morning at a traffic light on Route 22 in Salem Township, Westmoreland County.
Police say it happened as 53-year-old Karen Zatek of Saltsburg was stopped at a red light, with 40-year-old Christopher Ickes of Greensburg stopped behind her. A minivan driven by 62-year-old David Wolf of Forbes Road failed to get stopped and crashed into the back of the Ickes vehicle, pushing it into the Zatek vehicle.
Ickes and Wolf were taken by ambulance to the hospital, Ickes to Forbes Regional and Wolf to UPMC East. Zatek was injured but did not require medical treatment.
DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY
State police have issued a report on an accident February 2nd in Derry Township, in which they say a Blairsville man suffered serious injuries.
Police say 21-year-old Michael Babyak was under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle left Route 982 on a left-hand curve, crossing over the road and hitting several bushes and a wall. Babyak was taken to Forbes Regional Medical Center in Monroeville.
