Arlington E. “Blues” Moore, age 97, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, passing peacefully in Homer City, PA at his residence on April 9, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 13, 1923 in Indiana County, PA to Clifford and Viola (Frontz) Moore.
Arlington’s nickname was earned by his habit of singing “I get the blues when it rains” as a young man.
After serving in the United States Navy during WWII, Blues worked as an underground coal miner to 42 years. In his lifetime, he served on the board of trustees for both the Independent Traditional Holiness Church in Indiana, PA and the Florida Holiness Campgrounds in Lakeland, FL. Blues was also an active member of the Independent Traditional Holiness Church. He was as amateur painter and enjoyed writing poetry.
Surviving is his wife, Gaynelle Trimble Moore; four of his six children, Lenora J., Beth A. (Martin) Yankuskie, Sharon L., and James E.; two of his 14 siblings, Norman and Joanne; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Blues was preceded in death by his parents and daughters, Arla J. (Richard) Elkin and Marlene G.
Blues will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, wonderful husband, faithful friend; and Veteran.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
