Severe thunderstorms rolled through the area last night, and that caused some damage in southern Indiana County and some of the surrounding areas.
Penelec reports that there is still a significant power outage in the Burrell Township Area, as 182 of their customers in the township are without power, with smaller outages reported in Blacklick and Blairsville. The outage is expected to be restored by 7:00 this morning.
It looked like Westmoreland County took on the brunt of the storm. It was reported that a church on Kenneth Avenue in New Kenisngton had a portion of its roof ripped off due to the storms last night. Storm damage was also reported at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.
While some say a tornado went through the area, it will take a while for confirmation from the National Weather Service.
