Even though school is closed until further notice during the Covid-19 pandemic, a local after-school program is continuing its work.
Evergreen After School Club announced that there have been some changes to its procedures since Governor Wolf issued his stay-at-home order in efforts to protect the staff and the public, but the club still plans on serving its more than 1,000 members in six Indiana County school districts.
In a news release, representatives with the club say they are using administrative staff only, and they will produce weekly educational packets which include instructional family and parental engagement activities based on icore curriculum. The packets will be posted on the club’s Facebook page every Friday and available for download from its website, www.evergreenasc.org. Also starting on April 13th, project directors will offer daily scheduled content through Facebook Live sessions.
Club administrators hope that they will be able to reach all of the club’s youth members during the shutdown with this increase in the organization’s online presence.
