State police in Greensburg say an Indiana County man is facing charges for claiming to be an EMT with exposure to Covid-19 and deliberately coughing on staff members at a medical facility along Route 981 in Unity Township.
Police say a 53-year-old Cherry Tree man entered the facility shortly after 10 a.m. Friday morning and said to the three people there, “That mask is not going to help you.” Then he asked a person if she was sick and opened his mouth, put his tongue out and coughed repeatedly on her, saying “I guess we’ll find out.” A second victim approached the man and requested he put on a mask and he responded by saying he was not coughing, then put his tongue out and coughed numerous times on her.
The man was identified and told the staffer he was an EMT and was there to get a physical due to a job opportunity to provide aid for stranded cruise ship passengers in Florida. He was charged with simple assault (physical menace), recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
The name of the suspect was not released.
