State police have announced some temporary changes in the way Troopers will respond to some non-emergency victims with the goal of mitigating the spread of Covid-19
The changes that will be put in place will limit in-person contact between the State Troopers and the public in certain situations. Troopers will collect certain information over the phone for incidents that do not require an in-person response, like lost-and-found cases, littering, identity theft, and general requests to speak with a state trooper. The actual response will be based on the totality of the circumstances of each situation after consulting with an on-duty supervisor. Troopers will continue to respond to emergency situations and crimes in progress.
State police are also asking people to keep social distancing in mind if they have to visit the state police station. Signs have been posted at each entrance asking people that if they have been in close contact with someone with coronavirus or if they are showing Covid-19 symptoms to contact them over the phone rather than in person.
