The Indiana School Board met in a virtual meeting last night and approved the continuity of education plan for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year in the wake of Governor Wolf’s announcement that schools will remain closed indefinitely.
The plan itself is focused on enrichment and review in efforts to prevent regression in learning and allowing students to move forward in the curriculum. The district will use Google Classroom and Google Sites to help with the learning process, but those who do not have internet access will receive learning activity packets on a regular basis. District Superintendent C. Michael Vukovich said the district will be taking an asynchronous approach.
Over the next two days, teachers will finalize plans for remote learning, and reach out to students. Student activities start Thursday.
In connection with the new curriculum, the board approved making April 8th and 9th, 13th and 14th and May 22nd as school days, either physically or virtually.
