The Greensburg Catholic Diocese announced on Friday that they are making plans to broadcast their holy week services online.
As a part of the diocese’s practice of social distancing, the diocese has been offering virtual services streaming on their website and social media pages. They have released a schedule for the upcoming Holy Week, which runs from April 5th to 12th. This includes virtual services for Palm Sunday at 9:00 AM, Holy Thursday service at 8:00 PM on April 9th, Good Friday service at 7 PM on April 10th, Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 11th at a time to be determined, and Easter Sunday service at 10 AM on April 12th. All of the services with the exception of Easter Vigil will be presided over by Bishop Edward Malesic. Easter Vigil will be celebrated with Archbishop Nelson J. Perez of Philadelphia.
The masses will be streamed on the diocese’s website, www.dioceseofgreensburg.org, YouTube channel and Facebook page. They are also offering up other virtual services including Praying the Rosary, Home Prayer Service on April 1st, and a blessing of Easter baskets on April 11th.
When the diocese started virtual streaming services on March 22nd, the service was so popular that the diocese’s servers overloaded. Officials say that the computers have been beefed up to handle the extra workload.
