Govneror Tom Wolf has decided to expand his “Stay-At-Home” order to more counties, including a county adjacent to Indiana. (See the official release here)
Westmoreland County has been added to the “Stay-At-Home” order along with Berks, Butler, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Pike, Wayne, and York Counties along with the ten original counties in the Governor’s order. Indiana County currently is not part of that order. The order will be in effect until April 6th. According to that order, people can only leave their homes for certain reasons including:
- receiving health care and medicine
- retrieving items to work from home
- getting necessary services or supplies for themselves
- to perform work at life-sustaining businesses
- travel to care for elderly, minors, dependents and other vulnerable persons
- engage in outdoor exercise, provided that social distancing is practiced
- travel to schools for picking up meals or distance learning materials and other reasons.
Those who are homeless are exempt, but are urged to find shelter, and government agencies are urged to help those who are homeless find shelter. International students, foster children, or anyone who would experience displacement or homelessness as a result of campus closures are allowed to remain on campus.
Law enforcement will focus on ensuring that residents are aware of the order and inform the public on social distancing practices instead of law enforcement.
