The White Township Supervisors at their meeting on Wednesday announced that the township has been in a state of emergency due to concerns over coronavirus.
A news release issued by the township last night said that the declaration of disaster emergency has been in effect since March 17th, which is when supervisors say they held an emergency meeting. The declaration will allow White Township to take all appropriate actions needed to alleviate the effects of the coronavirus outbreak, aid in the restoration of essential public services, and take other emergency response actions needed to respond to the pandemic.
White Township Buildings will be closed to the public until further notice, and limited staff will be available at limited hours by calling 724-463-8585. Payments and other correspondence can be dropped off through the mail slot. Also, the township announced that only essential meetings will be held and will be determined on a case-by-case basis in order to conduct essential township business.
In other business from last night’s meeting, the township approved seeking bids for a tree removal project at the White Township Recreation Complex to improve the environmental health of the area and to clear the land for a park in the complex. Specifically, the project will focus on the fenced-in area near the township’s tennant house and the former Blosser property. The township’s property manager, Millstone Land Management LLC, will seek the bids from contractors.
