While Coronavirus has spread quickly in Pennsylvania, the pace of Influenza in Indiana County and the surrounding areas has slowed down.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported that there were 38 new cases of influenza reported in Indiana County over the last week, bringing the county’s total number of flu cases to 877 for the season that started last fall. 32 of the new cases were Type A flu while six cases were Type B. For the season, there have been 382 cases of Type A and 495 cases of type B. Last week, the county had 64 new cases of flu reported.
Armstrong County’s total went up by 25 cases from 591 last week to 616 this week.
Cambria County saw an increase of only 44 cases with 1,719 last week increasing to 1763 this week.
Clearfield County’s pace also slowed to 67 new cases from 1205 last week to 1272 this week. This was after three straight weeks where Clearfield County had over 100 new cases per week.
Jefferson County had 24 new cases of flu reported to bring their total for the season to 687, with the county reporting 663 total cases last week.
Westmoreland County’s pace continues to drop as well, as they had only 60 new cases reported. Last week, 156 new cases were reported. The total as of this week for Westmoreland County is now 3,598.
Seven more people died in Pennsylvania from influenza in the last week, bringing the total to 100 for the season.
