The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved Govenror Wolf’s disaster declaration and businesses that are being negatively impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak can apply for assistance through low-interest loans.
Online applications for those low-interest loans is available through an SBA website: disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. The site went live yesterday. Disaster loans can also be sought by calling the SBA customer service center at 1-800-659-2955.
Byron Stauffer of the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development has said that people should keep a few things in mind as they register for these low-interest loans.
- Remember the username and password you used to create the account or application
- Save your progress frequently as if the website times you out, you could lose the work you had
- Several forms and files have to be scanned and uploaded, and that could also take time.
Stauffer recommends that businesses download the form and fill a paper copy before trying to file the online application.
