The Army Corps of Engineers yesterday announced the closure until further notice of facilities at a number of lakes and dams in western Pennsylvania, including Loyalhanna Lake outside of Saltsburg, Mahoning Creek Lake outside of Dayton, and Crooked Creek Lake outside of Ford City.
The closures include visitors’ centers, campgrounds, visitor centers, fishing areas and piers, restrooms, picnic areas, shelters, pavilions, maintenance officers, resource managers’ offices, disc golf courses, and playgrounds.
Boat ramps at the lakes will remain open. The Corps says those wishing to visit the lakes should contact the resource manager’s office first to see what’s restricted.
Other closures in the western half of the state include the Youghiogheny River Lake, Tygart Lake, Stonewall Jackson Lake, Berlin Lake, East Branch Clarion River Lake, Kinzua Dam and Allegheny Reservoir, Michael Kirwan Dam and Reservoir, Mosquito Creek Lake, Shenango River Lake, Tionesta Lake, Woodcock Creek Lake and the Union City Dam.
